In March 2026 the Collection had donated the triangle used by the Tournament Match Referee Peter Williamson.
Peter Williamson 26 July 1948 – 15th February 2026
Peter Williamson, a referee on the World Snooker Tour for 30 years until he retired in 2021. He died in 2026 after a period of illness at the age of 77. From Merseyside, Peter first refereed on the circuit in 1991 having previously worked at Liverpool Airport. He took charge of many televised matches including several at the Crucible. He named his favourite match as the 2009 Shanghai Master Semi Final between Ronnie O’Sullivan and Joh Higgins. He was the man in the middle for seven maximum breaks and also officiated at the final of the World Championships five times.
Peter was also heavily involved with Snooker on Merseyside and North West his knowledge and expertise being valued at competitions such as the Merseyside Open, Merseyside masters and Northwest Open to name but a few.
